So I have been M.I.A. for a little while and truly have been intending to get a few post up these last few weeks, but I try to keep my priorities straight and know that this does not come first for me. I like coming and clearing my thoughts, sharing my hopes, dreams, and even fears with you, but this is currently a luxury.
I have been trying to focus my little bit of energy and efforts towards making my house more homey and peaceful, and getting homemaking inspiration from various sources. *Please note that I have no affiliation with the two women’s platforms I am about to mention. I just feel that they are very helpful and I am recommending them just for that.* I have recently been watching Lynette Yoder’s channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPnkHdnyfqw35cZJI0uypzw where she shares cleaning, organization, thrifting, and the occasional food inspiration. I think that she is most helpful for me because I have been struggling with giving everything a place and she seems to have this down. It makes me want to strive to keep up with what I’m doing and know that it’s not impossible. The other lady I have been listening to is Jennifer Ross. I have had her DVDs (Homemaking 101 and 201) for years and I have joined her Homemaker’s Academy that just started a new session and I believe is now filled. (She opens registration every so often for new participants to get a chance to enroll.) She also blogs at http://www.ConfidentlyCalled.com to help encourage women to become more confident in their homemaking.
So what has this been doing for me? I have been keeping my kitchen relatively cleaned, (I still have others going and using the kitchen after dinner and they don’t clean behind themselves.) I have been reducing Mount Laundry to a size that I can see the light on the other side, the family and I have gone shopping for decor to help to make the house feel more like home, and I’ve been trying to keep up with a small daily routine that I want to build upon as my energy levels change with my pregnancy.
I have been going back and forth with the idea of getting a camera and vlogging my family and my efforts. My issue with that is exposing my kids to social media and I later find that it’s not something that they want for themselves. Also, I don’t like how people act so familiar with “celebs” or “YouTube stars”. Fans walk up to the kids and call them by name and know things about the children, but my kids are big on shying away from strangers and I feel this would make things more weird in their lives. I’m not sure that I find sharing my kids as large a benefit as the cons. I’ll continue to think about it, but I believe that I could help to encourage others, just as Jennifer and Lynette have me.
What motivates you to keep your home? Any YouTubers that you could suggest? Let me know in the comments. Until next time…
