Schedule Update

So at the beginning of this school year, I made a post about trying out a new daily schedule. If you haven’t read about it, you can check that out here. I had said I would come back and give you guys a report about how well or how poorly it is working for us. It is working well AND is poorly working for us. LOL! In the beginning, I was still pregnant and waking up on time, everyone would meet in the school room at the same time and we would have a wonderfully organized day. Once the baby was born, my sleep is continuously interrupted and sometimes don’t get breakfast on the table in time, or my oldest son tries to rush to get his work done before anyone gets to the school room. I don’t believe that his rushing is necessarily bad, it just throw everyone off for our unit studies, read-a-loud, and such. On the days where we do come together as a group to start our day, it is a less stressful day for us all. The kids are really love learning when our days are streamlined. This is why I am trying to make an effort to get to where we can actually stick to our schedule as closely as possible.

So the overall answer is, yes, the schedule works for our family and I would keep it for future reference even when the other kids get to “school age”. It just helps us to keep things in check with our day. Have you tried a daily schedule for your household? Does it work for you? Are you interested in trying one out if you haven’t? Let me know in the comments, and until next time…
